Bangkero Festival

Pagsanjan, Laguna
1st week of March

The Bangkero Festival is held in honor of the boatman (bangkero in Tagalog). The town is the site of the world-famous Pagsanjan Falls and, for the adventurous tourist, a thrilling boat ride through 14 rapids of the Pagsanjan River. It is for this reason that the boatmen’s valuable role is celebrated. The festival features exciting events on land and water, such as palarong bangkero, street dancing, a drum-and-lyre band competition, a choral fest, cultural night, a trade fair, and sports contests.
